South Carolina Gamecocks quarterback LaNorris Sellers was named Heisman of the Week on Tuesday after leading his team to a 42-25 victory over Oklahoma in Week 9.
Sellers completed 19 of 24 passes for 301 yards and three touchdowns, adding 101 non-sack rushing yards and two rushing scores against the Sooners. His performance included touchdown passes of 84, 79 and 38 yards, plus a 30-yard rushing touchdown during a second-quarter burst that helped decide the game.

The Gamecocks gained 521 total yards — the most against Oklahoma since late 2023 — and won their third straight game after opening SEC play with three consecutive losses. They defeated Florida 38-19, Tennessee 27-24 and Oklahoma 42-25.
Sellers has thrown for 6,906 career yards and 49 touchdowns. He has rushed for 2,203 yards and 19 scores, excluding sacks. He took 42 sacks in 2025 and 33 in 2024.
Despite two interceptions and some negative plays against Oklahoma, Sellers’ overall production earned him the weekly Heisman honor — the only player awarded 10 points in the F1-style weekly scoring system. Jeremiah Smith of Ohio State remains the overall leader with 27.5 points after nine weeks.
Darian Mensah of the Miami Hurricanes moved to the DraftKings betting favorite after completing 22 of 29 passes for 274 yards and three touchdowns in a win over North Carolina. His season completion rate dropped to 80.7% after that game.
Sellers’ resurgence comes amid growing scrutiny of South Carolina’s offensive consistency and supporting cast. The Gamecocks’ late-season charge echoes prior even-year patterns under head coach Shane Beamer, though it remains uncertain whether the momentum will extend into November.
The Heisman Hopefuls Fan Vote platform — which includes EA Sports ratings and statistics — continues to track candidates weekly. Sellers’ performance reaffirmed his status as one of college football’s most dynamic dual-threat quarterbacks when operating at peak efficiency.
