Jets Lose 38-33 to Raiders After Scoring on First Six Possessions

New York Jets fell 38-33 to Las Vegas Raiders at MetLife Stadium despite scoring on first six possessions — their best offensive game in years.

The New York Jets lost 38-33 to the Las Vegas Raiders at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, November 1, 2026, after scoring on their first six possessions — only the second NFL team since 2000 to do so and lose.

Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick described the loss with the phrase “Jets being Jets” in his postgame remarks. A Jets spokesman clarified two hours later that Fitzpatrick meant to say “Jets beating the Jets.”

The Jets led 30-21 with 8:26 left in the third quarter. They allowed scores on three of the next four Raiders possessions and surrendered 24 second-half points. The defense has allowed 92 points over its last three games.

New York’s offense compiled a season-high 439 yards. Running back Braelon Allen rushed for 147 yards. Wide receiver Adonai Mitchell gained 142 yards. Quarterback Geno Smith passed for 290 yards. Wide receiver Garrett Wilson caught six passes for 83 yards.

But the Jets converted just two of six red-zone trips into touchdowns. Wilson said the team must adopt a “sniper” mentality in those situations.

Raiders quarterback Kirk Cousins threw three touchdown passes, two to tight end Brock Bowers, who had seven receptions for 92 yards. The Jets recorded one sack. Rookie pass rusher David Bailey missed the game with a groin injury.

Linebacker Demario Davis called the team’s recent home win over Cleveland “historic” three weeks ago. The Jets have not won since. On Sunday, Davis said, “We have to claw our way out of the darkness.”

The Jets are 2-6. They are on pace for their 11th straight losing season and 16th consecutive year without a playoff appearance — the longest active drought in North American sports.

Head coach Aaron Glenn has lost 20 of his last 25 games. He took direct control of the defense this season, citing it as his “superpower,” but the unit has regressed sharply. Glenn said he must “dig deep and figure it out.”

Geno Smith, asked about the urgency of the moment, deadpanned, “What time is it?” while scanning the interview room wall for a clock.
