New York Knicks and Georgetown legend Patrick Ewing is getting back into coaching as he has agreed to become an assistant with the Washington Wizards according to Shams Charania.
Ewing’s most recent stop in basketball was with the Hoyas where he was the head coach from 2017-23 where he posted a record of 75-109 with one Big East title and one NCAA tournament appearance.

However, Ewing has compiled several years of experience as an assistant in the NBA and has had stops with the Wizards, Orlando Magic, Charlotte Hornets and Houston Rockets.
Prior to his coaching days, Ewing was the No. 1 overall pick in the 1985 draft where he played 15 seasons with the Knicks and is the franchise’s all-time leader in points, rebounds, blocks, steals and games played. He has his No. 33 jersey retired with the franchise and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008.
He will now be helping develop this past season’s No. 1 overall pick AJ Dybantsa on Brian Keefe’ staff.
