San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Nick Bosa suffered a torn ACL back in September which has sidelined him ever since.

Although Bosa won’t be participating during the team’s OTAs this week, he gave a positive update on his rehab sharing that he is far along in his recovery.

“I’m pretty far along,” Bosa said according to ESPN. “[I’m] out on the field doing a lot of stuff, trying to just take it slow because I tend to push things quicker. I got injured pretty early last year, so there’s plenty of time for me to really kind of lay the groundwork to be ready for a long season. It’s going really well, and I plan on being ready.”

Bosa was injured during the team’s Week 3 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Recovering from this type of injury is nothing new for Bosa, as he has torn his left and right ACL as a high school senior and then during Week 2 of the 2020 season. With the experience that he has with the rehab, he has learned a few lessons in not rushing things along like he may have previously.

“When I did it in ’20, it was just like balls to the wall, get back, push every milestone as hard as you possibly can and I probably dealt with some stuff that I didn’t need to deal with in terms of just ind of those bumps in the road of recovery,” Bosa said. “Now, I’m taking it slow and I kind of have references to go back and look at.”

Bosa has been one of the top pass rushers in the NFL since being drafted with the second overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Through his seven years in San Francisco, Bosa has recorded 64.5 sacks, 278 tackles and 91 tackles for loss.
