After one season with the Kansas Jayhawks, star guard Darryn Peterson has declared for the 2026 NBA Draft, he announced on social media Friday.
“After much reflection and prayer, I am proud to announce my decision to declare for the NBA draft,” Peterson wrote. “This has been my lifelong dream, and I am excited for the future. Rock chalk forever!”
The 19-year-old battled injuries throughout his freshman season, but averaged 20.2 points and 4.2 rebounds per game and is projected to be a top-three pick in the upcoming draft.
He dropped 28 points in his March Madness debut before a 21-point outing in the Jayhawks’ loss to St. John’s in the second round.
His injury woes lifted during the second half of the season and he’s still projected to be a potential No. 1 pick alongside BYU’s AJ Dybantsa and Duke’s Cameron Boozer.
