Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Trinidad Chambliss has officially announced that he will return next season, pending the NCAA’s approval of his eligibility waiver.
“This season has meant so much to me, especially because of the brothers I get to line up with every day and the unwavering support of the Oxford community,” Chambliss said in a social media post. “My teammates are family, and together we share a common goal, to bring a championship home to Ole Miss. While the process is still ongoing, there is no place I’d rather be than finishing my college football career in Oxford.”
Chambliss has racked up 3,660 passing yards, 21 passing touchdowns and three interceptions to go along with 520 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns.
Back in November, Ole Miss filed a waiver petition for Chambliss to be given a sixth year of eligibility. He’s seeking a medical redshirt for the 2022 season, in which he battled severe respiratory issues.
If the NCAA grants that request, Chambliss will be back in a Rebels uniform next season. He won’t be alone either, as star runningback Kewan Lacy also announced that he is returning to Ole Miss next season.
While there’s no timetable on a decision from the NCAA, the green light would allow the Rebels to bring back their starting quarterback to play alongside their leading rusher.
