The Los Angeles Lakers recently updated NBA insider Shams Charania about the status of Anthony Davis‘ foot injury. Charania appeared on SportsCenter Thursday with the update.
“The Lakers are hopeful that Anthony Davis plays on Friday,” Charania said. “This is a nagging for injury for him that he’s been dealing with since the end of last season. They’re confident there’s nothing structurally wrong there, but something that he’s gonna have to manage.”

The update comes after Davis, who is currently the league’s leading scorer, missed the Lakers’ last two games. Los Angeles lost both of those matchups.

The update also reveals just how long Davis has been dealing with the injury, which is worrisome considering his injury history. If he is available to play on Friday, it will be against a Philadelphia 76ers team without Joel Embiid, who’s currently serving a three-game suspension.
