Los Angeles Lakers

Lakers trio makes history in win over Grizzlies

The Los Angeles Lakers were reportedly surprised when the Dallas Mavericks came to them with a trade involving Luka Doncic. Fast forward to present day however, and the Lakers now have one of the best trios in the NBA, LeBron James, Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.

The Lakers faced off against the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday in Memphis’ first game without Taylor Jenkins.

Reaves led the Lakers with 31 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists, and 2 steals. Doncic finished with 29 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists, while James put up 25 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists, and 3 steals.

James, Doncic, and Reaves became the first trio in NBA history to each record 25+ points, 5+ rebounds, 5+ assists, and 2+ made three-pointers in the same game.

The win is refreshing for the Lakers, who have been struggling recently and are battling for playoff positioning. They are now 45-29 and currently occupy the 4th seed in the Western Conference.

The Grizzlies aren’t the only team with issues though, the Lakers struggle to grab rebounds and they’re still in search of an elite rim protector.

While one regular season game is no reason to overreact, the Grizzlies may need to prepare themselves for a tough matchup if they face the Lakers in the playoffs.
