Boston Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck and his family are currently in the process of selling their controlling stake of the franchise, and he gave reporters an update on Thursday during the team’s visit to the White House.
“It’s underway. There’s a lot of interest,” Grousbeck said on a conference call. “That is one comment, I guess. I would like to limit it to that, but I would say that the plan is that I will stay [in charge] for three more years. That’s what’s laid out. We’ll go from there.”

Grousbeck is expected to stick around until 2028. When the new owners, whoever that may end up being, will take over not only the NBA’s most successful franchise, but one of the most iconic teams in all of sports.
