The Charlotte Hornets have a big season ahead of them and within it are some important decisions to make.
With star point guard LaMelo Ball seemingly back to full health and ready to continue scorching NBA defenses, most would assume that Ball will continue to be the franchise’s No. 1 option. But with concerns about health and questions about whether Ball’s play style will translate to playoff success, it is worth wondering if they will make Brandon Miller the team’s future cornerstone.

Miller is coming off of an incredible rookie campaign in which he earned 1st Team All-Rookie honors. He finished the 2023-24 season with averages of 17.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game while shooting over 37% from three-point range. At just 21, he’s already proven to be a versatile forward with elite shot-creation abilities.

On the flip side, Ball was playing better than ever last season prior to his injury. He only played 22 games but averaged 23.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game.
As an elite playmaker with great court vision and basketball IQ, Ball’s skillset is seemingly a perfect fit to play alongside Miller. With expanded frontcourt depth and injury luck seemingly turning their way, the Hornets have options regarding who their franchise player will be moving forward.
