Victor Wembanyama rumored to be NBA 2K27 cover athlete

As the 2026 NBA Finals draw near, the gaming community got some major news on the biggest upcoming basketball video game on the market, NBA 2K27.

X user “JABridgeforth” posted a screenshot on Tuesday that appeared to leak the cover athlete for NBA 2K27, San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama.

The image appears to show a webpage on 2K’s website that wasn’t intended to go public until June 9. The leak also includes an apparent global release date of Sept. 4.

While the official 2K website and accounts haven’t confirmed the news, it’s coming from a user that is heavily involved in the 2K community.

The post quickly went viral as fans online seemed largely pleased with the idea of Wembanyama gracing the cover of the game. He had a terrific regular season for the Spurs in which he became the first unanimous Defensive Player of the Year in NBA history.

Additionally, he’s fresh off a seven-game series victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder and is now preparing to face the Knicks in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday.
