Former Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson spoke to members of the media at the 2026 NFL Combine on Friday, expressing confidence that he can be a franchise quarterback.
“I’m ready. I’m a franchise quarterback,” Simpson said. “Alabama prepares you most for the NFL… It definitely prepared me for saying those long play calls, saying those checks, making sure that I get us in the right protection.”
He went on to say that he’s fully healthy after dealing with minor injuries last season and that he’s excited to throw at Saturday’s combine workout.
Last season, Simpson recorded 3,567 passing yards with 28 touchdowns and five interceptions with the Crimson Tide, finishing with an 11-4 record.
While some have raised concerns after his performance in the College Football Playoff, Simpson put together a strong season with Alabama.
His confidence will keep the bar high as he already appears to be the second-most coveted quarterback in the draft behind Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza.
