The Penn State Nittany Lions finally got back in the win column on Sunday with a narrow 77-75 victory over the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Penn State avoided overtime thanks to a tough game-winning layup by freshman Kayden Mingo.

The much-needed win gave the Nittany Lions their first Big Ten victory after a dreadful January that saw them go 0-10. The impressive finish to win the game capped off Mingo’s 14-point, five-rebound performance.

Freddie Dilione V led the way with 25 points, five rebounds and three steals.

For Minnesota, points came from multiple sources as Langston Reynolds had 18, Cade Tyson had 17 and Bobby Durkin had 16.

Penn State will now look ahead to their huge Big Ten matchup against No. 3 Michigan.
