The No. 2 Arizona Wildcats made a statement on Saturday with an 84-61 win over the No. 14 Kansas Jayhawks.

As freshman Koa Peat made his return after missing the last three games, the Wildcats outpaced the Jayhawks in virtually every aspect of the game.

Kansas had an early three-point lead in the opening minute, which would end up being their largest lead of the matchup. Arizona’s smothering defense and gritty offense worked together to build a double-digit first half advantage.

Darryn Peterson and the Jayhawks put together a strong comeback attempt to open the second half. With just over 12 minutes to play, the Wildcats only led by two.

That’s when Arizona flipped the switch and strung together a 16-0 scoring run to regain control and coast to the victory.

Peat finished the game with 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists while Brayden Burries had 20 points and 12 rebounds.

For Kansas, Darryn Peterson led all scorers with 24 points and five rebounds.
