NBA insider Shams Charania broke the news on Saturday that Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors have agreed to a two-year deal for him to remain as the team’s head coach.
The news comes after weeks of uncertainty surrounding Kerr’s job security.

While he was behind the wheel throughout the Warriors’ historic run through the mid-to-late 2010s, his rotational decisions and coaching choices over the last few seasons have rubbed some fans the wrong way.
When Saturday’s news broke, some Warriors fans were happy while others seemed angry at the decision to keep Kerr as head coach.
The online reaction to the new deal was all over the place, and that’s putting it lightly.
Some fans seem to believe Kerr lacks the ability to develop lottery picks and young players, highlighted by the tumultuous times with James Wiseman and Jonathan Kuminga.
On the other hand, he was the coach behind arguably the most revolutionary team in the history of basketball, one that completely changed how the game is played forever.
Obviously, it’s hard to predict the Warriors’ success next season, but they’ll enter the next few campaigns with their longtime coach still making the play-calls.
