The San Antonio Spurs delivered the shock of the NBA Cup semifinals, defeating the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder 111-109 in Las Vegas.

Victor Wembanyama, returning from a 12‑game absence, was the story of the night. The French phenom erupted for 22 points and nine rebounds, including 15 in a dominant fourth quarter that flipped the momentum squarely in San Antonio’s favor.

Oklahoma City entered the matchup riding a 16‑game winning streak and boasting a league‑best 24-1 record, but the Spurs’ defensive and late‑game poise proved decisive. Shai Gilgeous‑Alexander kept the Thunder afloat with 29 points, but on this night, it wouldn’t be enough.

Wembanyama’s rim protection, timely scoring, and composure under pressure helped San Antonio erase multiple OKC surges and close out the final minutes with surprising control.

The victory sends the Spurs to the NBA Cup Final, where they’ll face the New York Knicks in a matchup few predicted but everyone now wants to see.
