The San Antonio Spurs are officially 5-0 for the first time in franchise history. Third-year phenom Victor Wembanyama has not only looked like an early favorite to be the Defensive Player of the Year, he’s played like an MVP candidate.
He put up a team-high 26 points to go along with 18 rebounds and five blocks on Thursday as the Spurs defeated the Miami Heat.

Through the first five matchups, he’s averaging a ridiculous 30.2 points, 14.6 rebounds and 4.8 blocks per game.
“It feels great,” Wembanyama said. “It’s not random. We didn’t get those five wins randomly. We worked for it. We started this season strong, and we need to keep that streak going for as long as possible.”
The Miami Heat entered the matchup leading the league in points per game with 131.5, but Wembanyama and the Spurs defense held them to a season low of 101.
Wembanyama is having a historic start to the season and if the Spurs remain healthy, they’re looking like one of the scariest teams in the league.
