Arizona Wildcats head coach Tommy Lloyd took home the Naismith Coach of the Year award on Sunday, becoming the first coach in program history to do so.
Lloyd led the Wildcats to a school-best 36-3 record, including a spectacular 23-0 start to the season. They dominated their opponents this season, leading the Big 12 in scoring, three-point percentage and field goal percentage.
They went on to win the Big 12 regular season and tournament titles before burning their way through the NCAA tournament and into the final four.
In the four games before Saturday’s Final Four against Michigan, the Wildcats defeated their opponents by an average margin of 20.5 points.
While they went on to lose to the Wolverines on Sunday, Arizona’s incredible season should not go unnoticed. Lloyd’s high-level coaching was one of the major factors behind this success.
