LSU Tigers guard Donovan Dent posted 19 points and 10 assists — without a turnover — to lead LSU to a 100–57 win over LSU New Orleans Privateers in both teams’ season opener Tuesday night in Baton Rouge.
The Tigers opened the game on a 10–0 run and held the lead throughout. They led 53–17 at halftime and finished shooting 51% (39 of 76) from the field. Reserve Michael Ruzic scored 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Saliou Niang added 14 points and 14 rebounds. Brice Dessert tallied 13 points. Abdi Bashir Jr. contributed 11, and Mo Dioubate recorded 10.

Yohandry Ortiz led LSU New Orleans with 16 points. The university rebranded as LSU New Orleans in July 2026 after rejoining the LSU System. Its athletic teams retain the Privateers nickname and compete in the Southland Conference.
LSU hosts Texas Southern on Friday. LSU New Orleans hosts Loyola New Orleans on Saturday.
