Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold was arrested on Wednesday and is now facing four charges of kidnapping and four charges of armed robbery for an alleged incident back in February. These charges carry a potential sentence of life in prison.

Tampa police say Arnold was the primary conspirator in an armed robbery and kidnapping that took place around midnight on Feb. 4. Three men were allegedly held at gunpoint, pistol-whipped and robbed during the incident.

Authorities allege that Arnold orchestrated the robbery in response to his own personal belongings being stolen, totaling over $250,000 in value.

While Arnold is accused of targeting the robbers who had targeted him, authorities say the kidnapping victims in this case were not involved in the burglary of Arnold’s Airbnb.

Six other defendants in the case have been arrested, with two of them pleading guilty and the other four currently being held without bond.

According to ESPN, the state attorney’s office is now looking to file a pretrial motion to keep Arnold in custody until his trial.

A representative for the 23-year-old released a statement in response to the arrest.

“Terrion Arnold categorically denies any involvement in the matters underlying the allegations made against him and maintains his innocence. There is no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations. … Mr. Arnold looks forward to his day in court and is confident that the judicial process will lead to his ultimate vindication.”

Arnold was selected 24th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft and has since racked up 91 total tackles and one interception. The Lions also released a statement on Thursday, declining to comment.

“We are aware of the legal situation regarding Terrion Arnold. We will not comment at this time out of respect for the ongoing legal process.”
