The San Antonio Spurs never trailed on Tuesday as they took down the Minnesota Timberwolves 126-97 in Game 5 to take a 3-2 series lead.

Neither team had any problem scoring the ball in the opening quarter, but San Antonio scored first and continued to pour on the points and stay ahead. After 12 minutes, the Spurs led by four.

Victor Wembanyama was dominant on both ends of the floor in the first half, anchoring the defense while generating good offensive looks.

At the same time, Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves went cold, scoring just 17 points in the second quarter. The Spurs opened up a 14-point advantage by halftime.

Edwards recovered well in the second half and helped the Timberwolves hit the ground running in the third. Minnesota was able to tie it up momentarily, but San Antonio flipped the switch midway through the frame.

The Spurs erupted for a blistering 30-12 scoring run to take full control of the battle. They held on to this huge advantage for the rest of the night.

Wembanyama led the way with 27 points, 17 rebounds five assists and three blocks as Keldon Johnson came off the bench for 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting.

For Minnesota, Edwards finished with 20 points on 6-of-13 shooting.
