The San Antonio Spurs walked into Crypto.com Arena on Wednesday night as underdogs and walked out with a ticket to Las Vegas. Behind a relentless defensive effort and timely shot‑making, the Spurs defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 132-119 to advance to the NBA Cup West Semifinals.

San Antonio entered the matchup still without Victor Wembanyama, who remains sidelined with a calf injury. But that didn’t slow them down. The Spurs leaned on their depth, pace, and perimeter pressure to outlast a Lakers team powered by Luka Doncic, LeBron James, and Austin Reaves.

The Lakers looked off for the entire game, as the Spurs appeared to be the hungrier team. San Antonio’s young players stepped up and played like season vets.

They were led by Stephon Castle, who dropped 30 points on 10-14 shooting. He also added 10 rebounds and six assists.

For the Lakers, they were led by Doncic’s 35 points, but it wouldn’t be enough. LA is out of the Cup while San Antonio moves on to face the unstoppable Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA West Cup Semifinals.
