Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had another strong night as the Oklahoma City Thunder routed the Los Angeles Lakers 139-96 on Thursday.

The highly anticipated matchup quickly became a disaster for the Lakers in nearly every possible way. They knocked down just five shots in the first quarter while giving up eight turnovers in the same span.

On the other hand, the Thunder were firing on all cylinders. This combination was lethal as OKC poured in 44 points in the opening frame while the Lakers put up 21 points.

Lakers star Luka Doncic was visibly in pain throughout the matchup before going down in the third quarter with a hamstring injury. He did not return to the game and will reportedly undergo an MRI on Friday to determine the severity of the injury.

As for the game, OKC kept their foot on the gas from start to finish. They led by as many as 46 points and secured their 61st victory of the season.

SGA further strengthened his MVP case with 28 points, seven rebounds and seven assists while Isaiah Joe put up 20 points on 6-of-8 shooting from downtown.

For the Lakers, Austin Reaves was the leading scorer with 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor.

James Parker contributed to this story.
