Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been named the 2025-26 NBA Clutch Player of the Year, the league announced on Tuesday.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the fourth different Kia NBA Clutch Player of the Year winner in the award’s four seasons.

“To get this award, you have to help your team win games late,” Gilgeous-Alexander told NBC. “That’s what I’m after more than anything, is winning games. My teammates trust me. My coaches trust me to put the ball in my hands in those positions. I try my best to deliver night in and night out, and I did enough of it this year.”
Despite sitting out a number of fourth quarters in blowout wins this season, Gilgeous-Alexander led the league with 175 total clutch points and 6.5 points per game in clutch time.
That was good enough to secure 96 of 100 first-place votes, with Jamal Murray narrowly beating Anthony Edwards for second place.
To put it simply, Gilgeous-Alexander was the league’s most clutch player for the entire campaign, even when OKC was dominating teams every other night.
He’s now the fourth player to take home the award in its four years of existence, joining De’Aaron Fox, Stephen Curry and Jalen Brunson.
As the favorite to take home the MVP award as well, Gilgeous-Alexander’s trophy case will only continue to grow.
