Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley confirmed Monday he has been told by team executives he will not be traded before the NFL’s Nov. 10 deadline.

The statement came after Sunday night’s 27–10 loss to the Washington Commanders at FedExField in Landover, Maryland — Philadelphia’s sixth consecutive defeat. The Eagles are 2–6 this season and host the New York Giants before the deadline.

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman traded offensive lineman Cam Jurgens and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the Baltimore Ravens last month for a 2027 fifth-round selection and a 2028 second-round pick. That move prompted outside speculation about further roster changes.

Barkley played 22 of 68 snaps against Washington while managing hamstring and back injuries. He recorded 14 touches for 54 yards and one touchdown. He said his priority is helping the team improve and believes his leadership and performance can contribute to turning the season around.

The 29-year-old running back, in his ninth NFL season and selected second overall by the New York Giants in 2018, praised the Eagles’ leadership and culture. He called playing for the franchise “an honor and a privilege.”
