The Colorado Rockies rattled off six home runs on Sunday as they demolished the Athletics 23-9 and set a new franchise record for runs in a single game.

Hunter Goodman got it going for the Rockies early with a two-run homer, but that was just the beginning of a historic scoring performance.

The Athletics took a 4-2 lead with a few RBIs in the bottom of the first. All of a sudden, it was an early-game scoring battle.

Willi Castro rattled off his own two-run homer for the Rockies before Troy Johnston made it an 8-5 Colorado lead with a solo home run in the top of the fourth.

Goodman responded to an Athletics RBI with a solo home run before the floodgates opened for the Rockies in the top of the fifth.

They didn’t have a homer in the inning, but five consecutive hits resulted in runs. The Athletics continued to score in response, but they couldn’t match the Rockies in terms of volume.

Entering the seventh inning, Colorado had jumped ahead 14-8. Unfortunately for the Athletics, Colorado was far from finished.

Goodman, Tyler Freeman, TJ Rumfield and Ezequiel Tovar all sent in a runner with hits to extend the lead even further.

The Athletics scored one more run on a home run by Tyler Soderstrom, but failed to recover any further.

In the eighth inning, Castro had the most impressive play of the day with a 444′ grand slam to go up 22-9 before Rumfield put the icing on the cake with one more solo homer.
