Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf has been suspended for two games after appearing to punch a Detroit Lions fan during the first half of their matchup on Sunday, per Adam Schefter.
After videos of the incident went viral, it was revealed that Metcalf and the fan have crossed paths before. NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported Monday that Metcalf reported the fan to security last season while playing for the Seattle Seahawks.
Now, the NFL will force Metcalf to sit for two games, citing a violation of league policy that prohibits players from approaching or confronting fans in the stands.
Schefter also reports that Metcalf plans to appeal his suspension.
