Rays acquiring RHP Craig Kimbrel from Mets

Today at 12:51 p.m. MLB posted on X that RHP and MLB veteran Craig Kimbrel has been traded to the Tampa Bay Rays.

Kimbrel will play for his 11th franchise, with the Mets, Kimbrel posted a 6 ERA through 15 IP.

Kimbrel is looking to find more time on the mound, in 2025, he only managed to pitch 12 innings, split between the Atlanta Braves and Houston Astros. With 11 of those innings coming in Houston.

Kimbrel has really struggled to find the form he had in the first five seasons of his career.

The Rays currently sit in 1st place in the AL East and are 3.5 games clear of the Yankees; the Rays bullpen currently has a 4.32 ERA which is 19th in all the majors.

Kimbrel could help give some much-needed depth in a bullpen that has struggled all season.
