As the New Year began, the East-leading Detroit Pistons found themselves in a battle with the Miami Heat. Most believed it would be an easy victory for Detroit, but Norman Powell had other ideas.
Powell went off for 36 points, while getting solid help from Bam Adebayo (15 points), Jaime Jaquez Jr. (19 points), and Andrew Wiggins (17 points). Miami defeated Detroit 118-112.

The Heat led by 22 points at one point, and looked to cruise to an easy victory. Then, the Pistons mounted a fierce comeback, led by Cade Cunningham’s 31 points, eight rebounds, and 11 assists.
However, clutch play from Jaquez Jr. and Powell sealed the victory for the Heat.
