Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has officially won the 2025 NBA MVP Award.
After leading the league in scoring and helping the Thunder finish the season with a league-best record of 68-14, SGA will now take home the MVP trophy for the first time.

He won the 2024-25 scoring title after averaging a career-high 32.7 points per game to go along with 6.4 assists while shooting an efficient 51.9% from the field.
Gilgeous-Alexander was a top candidate to take home the award all season and was in a tight race with Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic for the latter half of the campaign. The Serbian big man had arguably the best season of his career, averaging 29.6 points, 12.7 rebounds and 10.2 assists per game.
But the historic season from both an individual and team perspective helped SGA win the race for the hardware.

This was SGA’s third season in a row averaging 30 points or more on at least 50% shooting, a multi-season feat only achieved by Giannis Antetokounmpo, Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Wilt Chamberlain.
His incredible season was also showcased on the defensive end, finishing third in the league in stocks (steals + blocks) for the season.
The Thunder now have a 1-0 lead over the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals after sweeping the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round before taking down Jokic and the Nuggets in seven games.
They’re now officially led by the league MVP and will have some extra confidence heading into Game 2 of the WCF on Thursday.
