Oklahoma City Thunder star Chet Holmgren left Sunday night’s game against the Golden State Warriors after an awkward fall onto his hip. He was helped off the floor to the locker room and he did not return. After the game, the Thunder released an official statement on Holmgren’s injury.
“The Oklahoma City Thunder announced today that forward/center Chet Holmgren sustained a right iliac wing fracture during the first quarter of Sunday’s contest against the Golden State Warriors. Holmgren is expected to return during the 2024-25 season, and an update on his return-to-play protocol will be provided in eight-to-ten weeks,” the statement said.

Although the statement gives a timeline of eight to ten weeks, that is simply how long it may take for the team to provide a return-to-play plan for Holmgren.

The news is heartbreaking as the 22-year-old already missed his entire rookie season due to injury. OKC plans for him to return to action at some point during the 2024-25 regular season, meaning this team’s championship aspirations are still in good shape.
