Chet Holmgren’s year continues to get better. He won an NBA championship and now he’s signed a rookie extension that is for five years guaranteed and could possibly reach $250 million.

Holmgren had a strong year for the Oklahoma City Thunder. He averaged 15.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.2 blocks per game. He also overcame a hip injury that cost him three months of the season.

Holmgren had a rough start to his NBA career as an offseason injury cost him his entire rookie season. He came back in the 2023-24 season and played all 82 games, while averaging 16.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2.3 blocks per game.

More importantly than his overall numbers, Holmgren fit in perfectly next to rising star and this year’s MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

This rookie extension signed by Holmgren proves he’s in it for the long haul and look for the Thunder to possibly run off multiple titles in the years to come.
