The city of New York is home to two historic MLB franchises, but as the regular seasons picks up, both the Yankees and the Mets are wobbling.
On Sunday, the Yankees fell 5-4 to the Tampa Bay Rays while the Mets lost to the Athletics 1-0.

For the Yankees, their season started off well with three wins over the Padres to sweep the first series of the year. They fell to the Seattle Mariners once before beating them twice.
New York went on to beat the Miami Marlins in two of the next three before beating the Athletics to make it an 8-2 start. That’s when the scoring began to falter.
The Yankees scored just two runs in their next two games as they dropped both to the Athletics. Their scoring picked back up in the next three games against Tampa Bay, but they couldn’t stop the Rays from putting up runs.
They dropped three straight to the Rays and now sit at 8-7 on the season.
As for the Mets, they opened the season with two impressive wins over the Pittsburgh Pirates before dropping the third game to the same squad.
After opening their series against the St. Louis Cardinals with a victory, the Mets dropped the next two games before losing a third straight at the hands of the San Francisco Giants.
The Mets recovered with a few blowout wins over the Giants and a close win over the Arizona Diamondbacks to go on a four-game winning streak.
The last five games have been ugly. Scoring just three runs over three games resulted in two losses to the Diamondback and a loss to the Athletics.
New York put up more of a fight in their 11-6 loss to the Athletics before taking a 1-0 loss on Sunday to extend their losing streak to five games.
While the season is still very young, both New York teams look uncharacteristically slow, despite being viewed as top 10 teams on opening day.
The Yankees will look to get back on track with a four-game series against the Los Angeles Angels while the Mets enter a three-game home series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
