The New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs are set to go to battle Saturday night for Game 5 of the NBA Finals and the referee assignments for the game prompted a big reaction from fans.

No referee in the NBA is talked about as much as Scott Foster, longtime veteran who’s been deemed “The Extender” by fans around the world.

There isn’t much data to back up this claim, but fans have come to believe that the team losing a series often wins when Foster is officiating.

As Foster was revealed as the crew chief for Saturday’s matchup, NBA fans wasted no time making jokes and predicting a Spurs win.

Ironically, the Knicks are actually 3-0 in games officiated by Foster this postseason.

The fans might be keeping their eye on Foster tonight, but the Spurs will have their attention on avoiding a series elimination.
