Naz Reid of the Minnesota Timberwolves is staying put. He’s signing a five-year, $125 million extension with the Timberwolves.

Reid looked to be a top free agent for this summer, but that has now changed. Minnesota is where Reid wants to stay.

Reid has become the anchor of the Timberwolves team. His intensity on the boards and the way he fits in with the Minnesota offense makes him a valuable piece.
Reid averaged 14.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game last season for the Timberwolves. In the 2023-24 season, Reid won the Sixth Man of the Year Award.
Once Reid won the award, Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch had this to say about the power forward:
“We couldn’t be more proud of Naz for being named Sixth Man of the Year,” Finch said. “His contributions to our team this year were a key reason for our team’s success.
“His growth this season and attention to detail to improve his game in the offseason were a main factor in Naz becoming the best reserve man in the NBA. On behalf of the entire organization, we congratulate him on this huge honor.”
Reid deciding to stay is a big boost for the Timberwolves. They appear to be one piece away from being a championship contender. Without Reid, their chances of winning is far less.
