Jacob Misiorowski

Misiorowski reaches 103.7 mph with newest record-breaking pitch

Milwaukee Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski is in just his second season in the majors, but he’s already etched his name in the history books.

On Saturday night, he continued his blistering run with a 103.7 mph pitch, officially the fastest pitch thrown by a starter since pitch tracking began in 2008.

During Milwaukee’s matchup against the Colorado Rockies, Misiorowski threw a low outside fastball that registered 103.7 mph on the radar gun.

His spectacular sophomore season has been defined by previously unseen levels of power and velocity.

Not only did he break his own record on Saturday, he’s been making history nearly every game this year. Misiorowski threw a record-breaking 57 pitches 100 mph or faster last month against the St. Louis Cardinals.

He’s completely taken over the record books when it comes to power, establishing himself as the fastest starting pitcher in MLB history.

While pitch tracking data only goes back to 2008, the league’s batting numbers suggest that pitchers were throwing slower before then, not faster.

With that in mind, it’s becoming less controversial over time to give Misiorowski that title.

“It’s one of those things: It is what it is,” Misiorowski said. “I’m going to keep going, trying to get strikeouts, and if that’s what it takes to get strikeouts, then so be it.”
