Detroit Tigers rookie Kevin McGonigle has had a hot start to his MLB career. After just 17 games, he’s now signed an eight-year, $150 million contract extension, the team confirmed on social media Wednesday.

The 21-year-old has put on an impressive display of hitting. So far, he’s recorded a home run and eight RBIs while batting .311/.417/.492.
His high-level play is no surprise, though. He’s been hitting at an elite level in the Minor Leagues for the past two seasons after being drafted by Detroit in 2023.
That was more than enough for the Tigers to lock him in through the 2033-34 season.
