Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was helped to the locker room near the end of Sunday’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers after going down with a scary knee injury.
With just under two minutes left in the fourth quarter, Mahomes scrambled out of the pocket before being tackled by Chargers defensive end Da’Shawn Hand. During the tackle, Mahomes’ left knee buckled backwards and the quarterback was immediately in pain.

He was helped to the medical tent and eventually the locker room as Gardner Minshew stepped in to replace him.
Minshew went on to throw an interception, sealing L.A.’s victory and ending Kansas City’s playoff hopes. The Chiefs will now miss the playoffs for the first time since 2014.
As for Mahomes’ status, he is set to undergo an MRI to assess the severity of the injury, but head coach Andy Reid said it “didn’t look good”, per NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
