The NBA has seen a current player, multiple former players, and a current coach indicted on a gambling charge. This includes Terry Rozier, Chauncey Billups, and Damon Jones. Thanks to Jones, NBA superstar LeBron James’ name has also surfaced.

Jones was a teammate with LeBron in Cleveland and an “unofficial assistant coach” for the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2022-2023 season. According to sources that spoke to The New York Post, Jones sent a message to one of the betting ring members on February 9, 2023, urging him to place a large bet on the Milwaukee Bucks, who the Lakers were playing.

The reason for this was that Jones knew LeBron would be out for that game due to an injury.

“Get a big bet on Milwaukee tonight before the information is out!” Jones texted, according to the indictment.
