CHARLOTTE, NCCharlotte Hornets mega star LaMelo Ball is poised for a rookie max extension next offseason in 2023, per Bobby Marks. The deal would be worth five years, $202.5M.

LaMelo Ball would become the first Hornets player to receive the rookie max under Michael Jordan.

The annual value of the rookie deal would be $40,500,000 per year, and he would be eligible for free agency in 2028.

The move would not be a surprise given Ball’s spectacular performance over his first two seasons in Charlotte.

Ball is looking to improve off of a stellar sophomore campaign, earning All-Star honors and career highs in points, steals, and rebounds.

If he can capitalize in year three, Charlotte fans will be buzzing to see the young phenom for more years.

His game and maturity appear to improve each season, along with his size, and he is only 20 years old. Ball’s 21st birthday is 11 days away on August 22nd.
