Former NBA player Kendrick Nunn reportedly sustained an injury on Saturday when he was punched by Tyrique Jones at Game 5 of the Greek Basketball League Finals.

The conflict began when Nunn, who plays for Panathinaikos, picked up his fourth foul. That prompted an altercation between Nunn and Olympiacos’ Jones.

As they went head-to-head, Jones grabbed Nunn by the throat and pushed him away.

Shortly after both of them were ejected, they met again inside the player tunnels. A video quickly went viral showing Jones appear to land a hard punch on Nunn as coaches, staff and police tried to separate the two.

According to Panathinaikos head coach Ergin Ataman, Nunn was injured by the punch.

“Tyrique Jones punched Nunn in the locker room,” he said. “What is this? Is this Greek basketball? What is Tyrique Jones doing?

It’s unclear what kind of punishment Jones may face, but he is expected to be penalized for the incident. As of publication, it’s also unclear what kind of potential injuries that Nunn sustained.

The 30-year-old joined the Miami Heat in 2019 and averaged 15.3 points, 2,7 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game as a rookie, finishing just behind Ja Morant for the Rookie of the Year award.

He ultimately played three more seasons in the league before traveling to play professional basketball overseas when his NBA production continued to dip.

In 14 GBL games this season, he averaged 16.3 points per game while shooting 53% from the floor and 42% from beyond the arc.
