Kansas Jayhawks head coach Bill Self communicated with the Kansas City Star on Wednesday to clear the air and deny the online rumors of his retirement.
“No news. All b.s. Bad info,” Self said in a text message a few hours after multiple social media accounts reported his retirement.

In reality, Self says he’s still undecided on his future with the Jayhawks and his future in coaching as a whole.
The 63-year-old has battled several heart issues since 2023, having two stints inserted into his heart after multiple hospitalizations.
“I love what I do. I need to be able to do it where I’m feeling good and healthy to do it fairly well,” Self said. “I’ll get back home, and it’ll all be discussed.”
The Jayhawks’ season came to an end on Sunday after falling to Rick Pitino and the St. John’s Red Storm in the in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Since joining the Jayhawks in 2003, Self has led them to two national championships and currently has a 634-167 all-time record.
