The Philadelphia 76ers lost to the New York Knicks 111-99 on Tuesday night. Sixers star Joel Embiid made his season debut in the opening game of the Emirates NBA Cup and had a rough night.
Embiid finished the game with 13 points on 2-of-11 shooting along with five assists and three rebounds. He’s missed all nine of the previous games this season due to “left knee injury management” as well as a suspension he received for shoving a reporter in the locker room.

Paul George was the lone bright spot for Philadelphia, he finished with 29 points and ten rebounds.
For the Knicks, OG Anunoby finished with 24 points and Karl-Anthony Towns had 21. Six New York players finished with double digits and their team effort pushed them to victory.
Embiid is surely a bit rusty and will need some time to find his footing again. In the meantime, George will need to keep the Sixers competitive.
