Jaylen Brown isn’t a fan of parlays in professional sports. At least not when it comes to himself.
Fans can become quite upset with a player if they fail to reach a parlay, causing them to lash out at the athlete. This usually occurs online, but sometimes these bettors might even threaten to confront the player in person.

Brown was recently on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game Podcast, where he addressed threats from online bettors:
“If one of you parlay f*ckers run up on me, I’ma f*ck you up, I’m telling you. Try it if you want to, that’s all I’ma say.”

Sports betting has become a huge business in America. It’s a fun way for fans to engage more deeply with their favorite sports. Unfortunately, it also can become a serious problem.
Many people who bet on sports put up more money than they should. This causes immense stress to the bettor, which usually leads to them lashing out on the professional athlete.
Not only can it be stressful for the bettor, but for the athlete as well. In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery spoke about how angry bettors affected him during his rookie season.
“When I was a rookie, I had a real, real stressful time in the league,” Montgomery said. “I was at a point where I would have this suicidal thought and it was just a depression. It was just a depression. It was just a depression and a scary year for me. And unfortunately, the people in fantasy were kind of helping me be aided to feeling that way. And I was at a point where I was scared to live.”
Sports betting should never come to the point where either an athlete is feeling suicidal or feeling like they have to watch their backs on the street.
If one does come to meet Brown face-to-face, however, he’ll be ready. So, hopefully sports bettors take his warning and leave him alone.
