The NBA announced on Wednesday that New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson is the 2025 NBA Clutch Player of the Year, becoming the third player to win the award and the third point guard to take home the Jerry West trophy.

The award was first given to then Sacramento Kings star De’Aaron Fox in 2023 and to Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry in 2024.

Brunson’s performance under pressure this season was spectacular, scoring 156 clutch points this season on 51.5% shooting in clutch situations. The two finalists Brunson beat were Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards and Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic.

After finishing in the top five for the award in the previous two seasons, Brunson’s heroics for the Knicks this season allowed him to capture the hardware. He put up averages of 26 points, 7.3 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game this season.

Time and time again, Brunson was the deciding factor in late-game situations for New York and that isn’t likely to change on Thursday when they face the Detroit Pistons in Game 3.
