The Memphis Grizzlies have suspended Ja Morant for one game due to “conduct detrimental to the team”, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Saturday.
The suspension comes after Morant’s brutal postgame comments following Friday night’s NBA Cup loss to the L.A. Lakers.

Morant was asked what went wrong during the matchup, to which he replied, “Go ask the coaching staff.” When asked what could have been done differently, his response contained obvious frustration.

“According to them, probably don’t play me, honestly. That’s what basically the message was. It’s cool.”
The Grizzlies haven’t had a terrible season at 3-3, but it’s far from where they expected to be. Regardless, Friday’s postgame interview shed light on a stressed relationship between head coach Tuomas Iisalo and his best player.
