New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu is set to make her season debut on Sunday against the Dallas Wings, she told reporters on Saturday.
Sabrina Ionescu will play tomorrow against the Wings, she just confirmed post practice. She added that she’s taking things “day by day” so isn’t sure about Monday’s game against the Fire.

Ionescu will return to the court after suffering a sprain ankle during the preseason and said she’s not sure if she’ll play in the second leg of New York’s back-to-back on Monday.
The four-time All-Star went down with the left ankle injury just under three weeks ago during a preseason battle with the Connecticut Sun, injuring the same ankle she injured in 2020.
Luckily, a subsequent MRI showed no structural damage in the joint.
Ionescu was a crucial part of the Liberty’s 2024 championship run and has become a fan-favorite over her seven seasons in NEw York.
In 38 appearances last season, Ionescu averaged 18.2 points, 5.7 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. She’ll be returning to a Liberty squad that is off to a 3-2 start to the season.
