BIG3 co-founder Ice Cube recently invited L.A. Lakers rookie Bronny James to try out for his league if his NBA career doesn’t pan out.
“He can always come out and try to make a team,” Cube said in an interview on The Cruz Show. “We can’t give him a space, but he can get drafted and earn a space.”

James has struggled in the little playing time he has gotten at the NBA level, averaging just 0.7 points in 2.7 minutes per game in six games for the Lakers. Through two games in the G-League, he’s averaging 5.0 points and 3.0 assists in 28.5 minutes per game.

James is certainly not the first athlete that Ice Cube has extended this invitation to. He also invited Caitlin Clark to the BIG3 after her tremendous final season playing for Iowa, which Clark declined and opted to declare for the WNBA draft.
While James is an immensely popular player, he is still very young and nowhere near done developing his game. Making the switch to the BIG3 would be unprecedented, but also a bit premature.
