Hornets sting Celtics in 118-89 victory, extend win streak to six

The Charlotte Hornets delivered a dominant 118-89 win over the Boston Celtics, pushing their win streak to six and climbing above .500 for the first time since October.

The victory ended Boston’s three-game winning streak and continued an impressive run for Charlotte, which has won all six of its recent games by at least 16 points.

Charlotte controlled the game from the opening tip, jumping out to a 35-23 lead after one quarter of play. The Hornets forced 15 turnovers, which led to 21 points, and committed only two turnovers in the first half, building a 64-43 lead. Their advantage grew to 29 by the final buzzer.

Rookie Kon Knueppel led the Hornets with 20 points on efficient shooting. Brandon Miller and LaMelo Ball added 18 each, with Ball providing steady playmaking.

Derrick White scored 29 for the Celtics, and Jaylen Brown added 20 points and 11 rebounds, but Boston struggled to generate consistent offense against Charlotte’s pressure.

The win capped a remarkable blowout streak for the Hornets, who previously beat the Wizards by 17, Bulls by 32, Pacers by 24, Blazers by 16, and Mavericks by 27.

The Hornets also improved their road winning streak to ten, which is a franchise record.
