The Grizzlies can’t seem to find a trade destination for Ja Morant

This NBA offseason has already been very eventful in a short amount of time, with superstars like Giannis Antetokounmpo and LaMelo Ball being included in two blockbuster trades.

But the Memphis Grizzlies seem to be having trouble finding a trade suitor for star point guard Ja Morant, according to ESPN insider Brian Windhorst.

During a recent episode of the “Unsportsmanlike” podcast, Windhorst said the Grizzlies are shopping Morant on the trade market now more than ever.

“Flagrantly available … Like, couldn’t be more available,” he said. “They want to make Cam Boozer the centerpiece of their team. They want to build elsewhere. They are highly motivated to trade him.”

Reports have already emerged indicating that teams want draft capital from the Grizzlies in a trade involving Morant. NBA insider Jake Fischer confirmed on Bleacher Report Friday that the Kings have all but shut down discussions with the Grizzlies.

“The Sacramento Kings have been insistent that they only wanted to take Morant back if they were receiving draft capital, and the Grizzlies have been insistent that they are not willing to attach draft capital to move off of Morant.”

With Sacramento ultimately drafting dynamic point guard Darius Acuff with the seventh overall pick in the draft, the pathway for Ja Morant to end up on the Kings got even smaller.

If the Grizzlies become desperate to get a deal done and officially end Morant’s time in Memphis, they might have to bite the bullet and give up some draft capital.
